Cushion Club brightens city community centre

A newly launched Cushion Club is brightening up an Exeter community centre. The small group of sewing enthusiasts has already made enough cushions to “cushion bomb” The Beacon Community Centre in Beacon Heath.

Centre manager, Richard Cummings, said: “The Cushion Club arrived with bags of cushions and started arranging them on our sofas – it caused quite a stir at our Friday coffee morning!

“The cushions have really brightened up the centre and we’re really looking forward to more being made and more “cushion bomb” visits!

We want to make the centre feel warm and welcoming and these homemade, stylish cushions are a great way of doing this, it helps our visitors relax and feel at home.

“They also made lovely aprons for our coffee morning volunteers and a couple of nice fabric print pictures. We’re very grateful to the Cushion Club, who are all keen supporters of the centre.  It’s a small group and we’d love more to join so if you live in the Beacon Heath and are interested just pop into our Friday coffee mornings, 10am-12 or call us on 01392 204979.

"Also, if anyone has any spare good quality material suitable for cushions we’d love to hear from you – we’re running out.”
