Christmas at Killerton launches with more than a million twinkling lights

The countdown to Christmas has begun and the National Trust’s Killerton in Exeter welcomed a brand-new glittering illuminated trail on Friday evening.

Visitors marvelled at more than a million twinkling lights, colourful trees and amazing illuminated installations, which were choreographed to a soundtrack of much-loved seasonal music to transform Killerton’s majestic gardens into a winter wonderland.

Festive fun facts about the Killerton trail 2021:

  • 50 metres of pea lights feature in the Tunnel of Light
  • 236 LED spheres glow
  • 125 metres of neon tree lights
  • 4.5km of Neon String
  • There are 27 Antares Stars
  • 55 metres of laser garden
  • It took more than 180 person days taken to install the lights

There are burnished lantern trees filled with flickering flames, neon strings stretched between towering trees, you can walk through Christmas bauble-trees, an arch of hearts, a carpet of gently glowing white roses and glimpse jolly Father Christmas along the way.

Independent street food vendors bring a delicious twist to tasty treats on offer. Complete your walk under the stars with *toasted marshmallows, a *spiced winter warmer or *hot chocolate shared with someone special.

My Christmas at Killerton provides a special way to celebrate the festive season with an unmissable outdoor experience. The trail, which runs until January 2, is designed for visitors of all ages and is accessible to everyone.
