Plans are being finalised for Exmouth Quay’s annual concert of traditional Christmas carols on Sunday December 15.

Exmouth Shanty Men, saxophonist Charlie Hearnshaw and the town concert band are among the guests at the event, which takes place outside the Peter Dixon Chandlery at 6pm.

Quay residents stage the concert each year with Christian Aid and in 2012 more than £500 was raised for the charity’s work among the world’s poorest people. This year the proceeds will be used to help tragic families involved in the typhoon in the Philippines.

Developer Eagle One is the main sponsor and other traders at the Quay provide help with the fund-raising.

Chris Fayers, Director, Eagle One Homes added: “ This is a fantastic community event for a great cause. It is particularly apt this year that we are supporting fundraising for those made homeless in the Philipinnes, as we put the finishing touches on Spinnakers, the last of the Exmouth Quay apartments.”

Quay resident Ian Dowell has been involved for several years. He said: “The open-air concert has become one of Exmouth’s great open-air festive events and it is always good to share our Christmas celebrations with people from around the town. Christian Aid’s charismatic host Martin John Nicholls always provides a professional touch to the proceedings and ensures everyone has a night to remember.”
