Staff and residents at Barchester’s Cumberland Grange Care Home in Exeter are over the moon because one of their much-loved residents, Joan Mundy, has been awarded an Honorary Bachelor of Education certificate by the university of Gloucestershire aged 106. Joan was so thrilled to receive her certificate finally after 86 years since leaving St Mary’s College Cheltenham.

Joan, who turns 107 in January, has had an incredible life full of different experiences, adventures and achievements. To receive this award just before Christmas has been extremely special.

General Manager of Cumberland Grange, Bethanie Cheffings, comments: “It was such an honour to be asked by Joan’s family to present this award to her. Joan continues to amaze us daily and it is a real privilege to have her here at Cumberland Grange, so that through Joan we can continue to enjoy her wonderful stories from over the years. Joan has achieved so much which inspirers us all. We have been so thrilled to celebrate with her.”

Cumberland Grange Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cumberland Grange provides Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care.
