Burglary suspect arrested by dog team

A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of burglary following excellent work by a police dog and his handler.

Police Constable Darryl Drew and Police dog Murphy were called to the scene of a burglary in progress in Danes Road, Exeter just after 9pm yestarday (Thursday 17 July).

A victim had disturbed a man in his house who made off on foot.

The dog team on arrival located a scent and tracked to a rear garden in another property in Danes Road. They entered the property and located a male suspect in the kitchen.

The man, aged in his late 30’s was arrested on suspicion of burglary and was conveyed to Exeter Police Station where he remains awaiting interview.
