Homeowners at McCarthy Stone's Pinnoc Mews Retirement Living development in Exeter have launched an appeal to find ‘the missing piece in its puzzle’ to complete their vibrant community.

After a busy few months following the pandemic, all but two of the age-exclusive apartments at Pinnoc Mews on Bakers Way have now been sold and local retirees are being urged to come forward and join the fantastic set-up at Pinnoc Mews.

Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, says: “We have all been facing a challenging time recently, so it is now more important than ever to feel connected and supported in a safe and secure environment.

“At Pinnoc Mews, homeowners are able to enjoy the very best in independent living within a community of like-minded people, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when they want it and peace and quiet when they need it. Homeowners can also take advantage of the large landscaped gardens at the development and have socially distanced chats with each other, which have proven to be invaluable throughout this difficult time.

“With just two apartments remaining at Pinnoc Mews, I would urge retirees to get in touch and explore the many benefits of joining a retirement community.”

Eric Robertson, 79, moved to Pinnoc Mews with his wife in August 2020. He comments: “I spent many years in the Air Force, so I have always really enjoyed maintaining an active lifestyle, and living at Pinnoc Mews has allowed me to continue doing the things I enjoy, without worrying about the upkeep of a house and large garden.

“We have everything we need here at Pinnoc Mews, so we have continued to live a relatively normal life throughout these lockdown periods. I tend to live independently with my wife, Frances, but I know the homeowners who weren’t able to leave their apartment for six months really valued all the help that our House Manager, Linda Rasaiah, and the team has offered during lockdown – I’m not sure what they would have done without it.”

Comprising a selection of 39 one and two-bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 60 and over, Pinnoc Mews provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing retirement.

Pinnoc Mews features a homeowners’ lounge, which is perfect for socialising with new neighbours. Retirees can make the most of beautiful landscaped gardens knowing all the maintenance is taken care of; and many properties also include patios or balconies, so homeowners can enjoy the outdoors from their own apartment.

A House Manager takes care of the day-to-day running of Pinnoc Mews, while a secure entry system and 24-hour emergency call system provide added peace-of-mind.

Prices at Pinnoc Mews currently start from £235,000 for a one-bedroom apartment. McCarthy Stone customers in Exeter can choose from a range of flexible Retirement Living solutions to suit them and their personal circumstances, whether they prefer to buy outright, rent or take advantage of a part buy, part rent option.

Prospective homeowners could also save an average of £16,471 on moving costs with McCarthy Stone’s ‘Move for Free’ offer, which includes estate agent, removals and legal fees all paid for*. Retirees stand to make an even greater saving when this offer is combined with the temporary holiday on Stamp Duty, LBTT and LTT†.

More than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 15 years’ running. McCarthy Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 15 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.

McCarthy Stone also received the Housebuilder Special Recognition Award 2020 for working hard to protect its customers – Covid-19 infection rates among homeowners and tenants are significantly below the national rate of infection across all age groups – and for innovation in the retirement sector.
