Air Cadets from Devon and Somerset Wing Air Training Corps have donated £515.00 to Dartmoor’s £ for the Park initiative. A cheque was presented by Squadron Leader Terry Ancell to Dartmoor National Park Chairman, Peter Harper at Ten Tors 2015 last weekend.

Each year the Wing runs a training programme for the Ten Tors Challenge. Starting in January, the team conduct eight training weekends, many of which are within Dartmoor National Park, progressively developing the teamwork, leadership and technical skills, together with the physical and mental strength necessary for completing the Challenge.

The group have made voluntary donations during their training in order to put something back into the environment which drives their spirit of adventure.

Dartmoor National Park’s £ for the Park initiative was introduced in 2013 to enable those taking part in organised events on the moor to make a donation enabling them to put something back into Dartmoor. Any money raised is spent on vital path repairs and conservation work. Organisations are also invited to return to Dartmoor to help out on volunteer days, carrying out practical work to benefit Dartmoor. A number of teams taking part in Ten Tors 2015 have offered voluntary practical assistance as a way of putting something back into Dartmoor National Park.

The Air Training Corps is the largest air minded youth group in the world and as part of the Royal Air Force it is open to young men and women aged 12 to 20.
