This autumn, Richard Chappell Dance celebrates a decade of pioneering dance in the South West with Home Revisited at Exeter Northcott’s Barnfield Theatre (28 Oct) and Ashburton Arts Centre (10 Nov).

For the last 10 years Richard Chappell Dance has created memorable and moving dance experiences for audiences across South West England and beyond on stage, screen and in person through wide-ranging participatory projects. In this special anniversary year, the Exeter based company returns to its small-scale roots on the stage of Richard Chappell’s very first performances.

Home Revisited sees Richard Chappell Dance perform Vast Rocks Revisited a reimagined version of its first small-scale creation from 2014 which takes inspiration from Devon’s landscape and coastline. As well as this will be an extract from one of its most ambitious works to date, Infinite Ways Home, a multisensory production exploring ritual, rave and human connection.

Showcasing some of the very best independent artists and community groups from across the local area, Home Revisited will also feature two commissions from South West Artists Divija Melally and harrynsmithy.

Contemporary and Indian classical dancer Divija Melally presents The Skeleton Is White exploring how the colour of our skin can affect our relationships to each other and the environment around us. While contemporary duo harrynsmithy perform dog eat dog, a playful and satirical imagining of what could happen when they bite off more than they can chew.

Completing the programme are performances from a range of intergenerational community groups, in what promises to be a true celebration of home, family and the Devon landscape.
