National housebuilder Redrow has sponsored new kit for the Starcross Dons Under 10’s football team in the seaside town of Starcross which is based near to its The Copse development in Dawlish, Devon.

The FA chartered standard club has a youth section which caters for 50 children and currently includes team for Under 7, 8 and 10’s as well as a mini kickers section (Dinky Dons) for three, four- and five-year olds.

The Starcross Dons Football Club provides children with a positive environment in which they will go on to learn and develop skills that they can use beyond football to handle life’s challenges.

Neil Keen, the manager of the under 10’s team said: “Fundraising for the club has been especially difficult during lockdown as we have had to cancel events that normally provide the vital funds we need to keep the club running.

“I had heard that Redrow were helping to actively support different parts of the local community and so I approached them for help before the start of lockdown. We are extremely thankful for Redrow’s support which has made a huge difference to the team who are very excited to wear their new kit for the first friendly match of the season in August.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, Redrow South West area sales manager, Charlotte Newnes, said; “We are committed to helping the local community in the areas we build houses and are thrilled to be supporting the Starcross Dons Football Club.

“It has been great to be able to help this local team especially given the challenges they have faced with fundraising in lockdown. We strive to integrate our sites in the local area and make sure we get involved in an array of initiatives and clubs that surround our developments.”

The Copse is set in an idyllic location surrounded by coastal scenery. With a combination of three and four-bedroom homes, The Copse has continued to be a popular development with over 90 percent of its homes now sold.

The site, which is near Blue Flag beaches and mainline rail connections boasts homes from Redrow’s Heritage Collection which take inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1930s.

Visitors can drop into the development to view the show homes every day between 10am and 5.30pm, and members of the Redrow sales team will be on hand to answer any queries.
