Christmas is fast approaching and most of us are busy hunting for gifts and decorations. A savvy few Devon residents, however have learned that demand for property for sale is set to peak and are getting their homes ready to be put on the market.

Rightmove, the UK’s most popular property portal, experiences its busiest time all year between Boxing Day and the New Year, with a massive 51 million visitors to their website during this period last year.

This huge spike in home hunters, beginning immediately after Christmas, is set to continue through to the New Year. With so many buyers looking to purchase and very limited property available for sale in the Exeter, Teignbridge, Newton Abbot and Dartmoor areas, homes for sale during this period are likely to receive a substantial influx of views and interest.

Devon based estate agents Complete Property have witnessed the trend year on year and are currently assisting home vendors to take advantage of this massive increase in demand.

“We are pulling out all the stops to help our vendors get their homes onto the market ahead of the Boxing Day rush. We’ve seen this before and it’s a hugely valuable time to ensure that lots of potential buyers will view properties that we are marketing.” - Bradley Duhy, Newton Abbot Branch Manager, Complete Property

The Director of Property Data at Rightmove, Tim Bannister, knows that the industry is set to experience a very busy period.

“We see a surge in the number of people searching for property from Boxing Day onwards, perhaps with a resolve to enjoy their next Christmas in new surroundings. Some of those additional buyers will also be new sellers who have held back until this period, judging it to be a good time to sell and to move in 2022.” - Tim Bannister, Director of Property Data, Rightmove

With fewer homes on the market available to purchase, Devon estate agents such as Complete Property are pulling out all the stops to assist their vendors in finding that perfect next home.

“If you choose to put your property on the market before Christmas, you may be able to secure a buyer early in the New Year, putting you in a in a superb position when you find your next home. This position of purchasing power can put you ahead of the game if there are other offers on the table.” - Stuart Sealey, Exeter Assistant Branch Manager, Complete Property

Estate agents Complete Property are offering free property valuations across the Exeter, Teignbridge and Dartmoor area this month.

If you are considering moving early in the new year, it might be in your interest to act quickly and take advantage of the vast exposure that your home could receive over the festive period.
