Festive Diamonds with Devon Life in Exeter's Gandy Street

To get you in the mood for the 2012 Festive Season, Devon Life has arranged a fun and fabulous readers’ event in Exeter’s historic Gandy Street.

Readers (who have booked a space), are invited to join Devon Life for an evening of festive drinks and nibbles plus a fascinating ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the unique jewellery workshop hidden below Paul Ashby-Crane & Son’s stylish Gandy Street showrooms.

Your guide will be diamond expert Robert Ashby-Crane accompanied by his wife Dania. Robert trained with his father Paul in Exmouth and then went on to develop his skills in jewellery design in Hatton Garden, London’s jewellery quarter and UK diamond centre. He is absolutely passionate about diamonds and has a recognised ‘good eye’ for the precious stones. His enthusiasm is catching as he speaks about the blue, greens, yellows and reds of a diamond like ‘a piece of fire’ on your hand.

You will learn how special pieces can be made to order in the workshop and gain an understanding of the processes involved in creating a piece of hand-made jewellery. You can examine the jeweller’s ‘tools of the trade’ and view some very exciting precious stones.

Guests are invited to bring along any family pieces for an appraisal. 'Rob's team are expert in repairing, restoring and modifying both antique and modern jewellery, a service unique in the South West. And everyone attending will be given a voucher for a free professional jewellery clean for one of his or her own favourite pieces.

The event will take place on Tuesday 27th November at Paul Ashby-Crane & Son, 15 Gandy Street, Exeter EX4 3LS from 5.30pm – 7.30pm and you can book by emailing rachel.haime@archant.co.ukThis is a complimentary Devon Life event. Please book early to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.
