Whether you’re looking to sell your home or have just moved into a property that needs a bit of TLC, the exterior of your home is the very first impression visitors get, so they are sure to pass judgement on its overall look. With this in mind, it’s essential to boost your home’s kerb appeal. You don’t have to make any major changes or spend a fortune in order to make your house look attractive; it’s all about being aware of the minor details.

Check out the tips below to point you in the right direction when it comes to boosting your home’s kerb appeal:

  • Take care of your lawn

Preserving the front lawn is one of the most important aspects for maintaining your home’s kerb appeal. Make sure you regularly mow the grass and pull out weeds that spring up in unwanted places. Ensure the grass watered is daily during the spring and summer months and treat any brown patches that may have been caused by extreme heat or dog urine.

If you make the effort to preserve your lawn, it won’t become too much work in the future. If you think the grass is starting to look a little worse for wear, you could always consider purchasing fresh turf or artificial turf; the latter of which requires no upkeep whatsoever.

  • Remove chewing gum off the driveway

There’s nothing that looks more unattractive than patches of chewing gum splattered along the driveway. What’s more - when new gum is thrown onto the paving slabs, it can stick to clothes and shoes and become a nightmare for visitors. While you may have pressure-washed and scrubbed the slabs with no luck, you could invest in eco-friendly gum removal machines, which have been proven to get rid of the sticky stuff once and for all.

  • Let there be light

A dark and dingy exterior isn’t the most welcoming invitation for visitors. It would be a good idea to instal light fittings along the walkway to make it easier for visitors to get to the door without stumbling. It will also provide the added benefit of security so you can keep an eye out for trespassers. If you already have light fittings installed around the doorway, clear away any cobwebs and debris as they will become extremely noticeable when lit up.

  • Add some colour

Treat passers-by to colourful flower arrangements and fresh greenery when decorating your front garden. If you lead a busy life and simply haven’t got the time or the cash to completely revamp the whole garden, you can still achieve an attractive finish to your outdoor space by adding plant pots to patio areas and boxes underneath the windows.

  • Revamp your front door

Your front door is the entrance to your home, so ensure it has a welcoming feel. Improving the appearance of your front door doesn’t necessarily mean having to invest in a replacement. You could spruce it up by giving it a lick of paint and using polish on door handles and locks to remove any unwanted rust and dirt marks.
