FOLLOWING two months of fewer trains – and reduced speeds – services on the West of England line return to normal between Salisbury and Exeter St Davids today.

Speed restrictions of 40mph had been in place near Tisbury, Gillingham and Axminster, as the clay-based track bed shrank in the record-breaking hot and dry summer, leaving the rails uneven and too bumpy for trains to run at full speed.

Local bus operator Stagecoach South West have launched a brand new cross city connection in the form of Routes 4 and 4A. As part of a green initiative to reduce carbon emissions, Propiteer Hotels is installing solar panels at Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport.

Propiteer Hotels owns and manages Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport and is investing £160,000 to install the latest solar Photovoltaic technology onto the roof of the Exeter hotel.

The 164Wp solar panels will deliver up to 20% of the hotel’s electricity consumption, eliminating 77,000kg of CO2 emissions annually; equating to two million tonnes over the 25-year life of the technology.
