Foreign nationals visit the United Kingdom as a Standard Visitor for the purpose of tourism, study, business, medical reasons or other permitted activities. With a valid UK visitor visa, they can easily stay for up to 6 months. However, under certain circumstances, they might be eligible to apply for an extension of your stay.

UK visa application process is tedious as a person needs to understand and meet the country’s set of eligibility requirements and regulations. Without knowledge and expert guidance, it is likely to make common mistakes that can get one’s visa rejected.

So, here are some important things to remember while filing your UK visa application.

Make Sure You Meet the Eligibility Requirements

One of the primary reasons why UK visas get rejected is because the candidates do not meet the eligibility requirements. Depending on your purpose of visit, check if you are eligible for the visa. You must have a valid passport or qualifying travel document to enter the country.

You also have to show that you can support yourself and your dependants during the trip, do not plan to leave the country at the end of your stay or make the UK your home or live in the country for extended periods through successive or frequent visits. You also have to prove that you have enough funding to sponsor your onward journey or return.

Before you apply for the visa, ensure you meet all eligibility requirements.

Be Careful to Provide Accurate or Complete Information

Read the application carefully before you start filling it out. Providing inaccurate or incomplete information in the form is one of the primary reasons for visa rejection. So, you must understand all requirements and keep the documents ready to avoid providing incomplete or erroneous information.

Make sure you disclose important information, such as criminal offences or details of previous visa rejections, to avoid visa refusal or rejection. To support your application, you may require valid documents such as your employment letter, bank statements, proof of admission, health insurance, accommodation details, etc.

Ensure you attach the documents with your visa application along with your photograph and identity proof as required.

You Must Own Sufficient Funds to Sponsor Your Visit

When you apply for a UK visit visa, it is crucial to establish your financial credibility. For instance, when you plan to visit for business purposes, you must furnish evidence of your salary account having sufficient funds. If you fail to provide proof of funds, it can lead to visa rejection.

On the other hand, having a bulk amount of undocumented money in your account may also get your visa rejected.

Take Care to Apply Well in Advance From the Date of Travel

Typically, it takes around 12 weeks to process your UK visa application, depending on your purpose of visit and eligibility. It may vary during peak travel seasons. If you tend to leave your visa application to the last minute, it can result in rejection or refusal. It is advisable to apply well in advance before your date of travel to avoid unforeseen delays.

The Bottom Line

The UK visa application process can be intimidating. Relying on a visa expert can help you avoid common mistakes and get your visa processed faster.
