Visiting Thailand is set to become even easier with the arrival on the new Thailand visa online which will enable Brits to apply for a tourist visa for Thailand from the comfort of their home.

The new Thailand visa online will speed up the process of requesting and obtaining a tourist visa for Thailand. By the end of this year, Brits will be able to apply for a Thai visa by completing a simple application form.

Once approved, your Thai tourist visa will be sent to your email address and will need to be printed off, ready for travel to Thailand. It should be presented at the Thai border, along with the corresponding passport, otherwise it will not be valid.

Thailand attracts visitors from all over the world and has something for everyone; whether you would rather lie on a paradisiac beach and island hop, test out your wild side with jungles, caving and elephant trekking or keep it metropolitan and explore the marvels that Bangkok has to offer.

The list of attractions is endless, but here are some which may inspire your travel itinerary.

Bangkok

It would be difficult to pinpoint a defining element that makes Bangkok so unique. Although mentioning the vast array of historic temples, aromatic cuisine, sensational nightlife and floating markets could attempt to summarise Thailand’s capital.

Visit Wat Pho, Bangkok’s oldest temple and witness the 45 m long golden Buddha, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, and observe the sparkling jewels and craftsmanship.

While there are many more temples, Wat Arun is an intriguing temple with a climb that isn't for the faint-hearted. Climb up before sunset to get the ultimate view of the sun sinking into the Chao Praya River.

If you fancy resting on one of Thailand’s most happening streets, enjoy a massage in Khaosan road. Alternatively, roam the market stalls and dig in to a dish of street food, perhaps a fried scorpion or two, as well? This road really wakes up at night, so if you are the clubbing type, be sure to stick around.

Chatuchak Market is one of the world’s largest markets and is only open on the weekends. Mingle with the locals and taste some delicious dishes or indulge in out of the ordinary retail therapy. After all, there are up to 15,000 stalls at Chatuchak Market.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market offers a different kind of market experience to tourists. This floating market is famous and was once referred to as the “Venice of the East”. There is more than one floating market in Bangkok so you can also look into taking a boat along the river and exploring the different markets as you pass by. This will also give you the opportunity to observe the fascinating river houses.

Island Hopping

Island hop amongst Thailand’s alluring islands and discover tropical fish in turquoise waters, beautiful viewpoints at the top of verdant hills and full moon parties filled with madness to the max. Of course, part of the beauty of island hopping is that you can hop away from the crowds if you prefer. Experience true peace and tranquility in a beach hut on a serene stretch of sand and admire the clear blue ocean all day long.

All of Thailand’s islands are pure bliss, but popular choices are: Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan, Koh Phi Phi and Phuket.

Chiang Mai

Tour the enchanting Chiang Mai Old City to wander the narrow streets and gasp in awe at the historical temples and buildings surrounded by ancient walls. The city is small enough to see by foot.

If you’re the adventurous type, Doi Suthep is the perfect place to go on a trekk and explore one of the most spiritually significant locations in Thailand. The mountain looks down upon the city and is also the ideal spot if you are into photography.

Animal lovers can take the Chiang Mai Night Safari to three different animal areas. Zebras, tigers, giraffes and much more lie in store. However, if you’re more of an elephant lover, visit the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary and give a baby elephant a bath!

Doi Inthanon National Park is the ultimate sport for birdwatching as there are over 300 different species of bird. Doi Inthanon is the highest peak in Thailand and radiates a naturally raw and tranquil ambience.
