In Gran Canaria you can find all kinds of beautiful beaches, from urban beaches to unspoilt bays, with both black and golden sands, calm or wild waters, and countless more. Where you can recharge your batteries, or celebrate a holiday with your friends, family or partner, as well as enjoy a water sport.

In addition, we can say that Gran Canaria is blessed with a wonderful climate, which allows you to enjoy the beach at any time of the year.

What are the best beaches in Gran Canaria?

Among the most attractive and popular beaches in Gran Canaria are the following:

1. Maspalomas Beach

Located in the south of the island, this beach is very popular because it has the natural reserve of the Maspalomas Dunes, formed by 3 different ecosystems, which are the palm grove, the dunes and the pond. It is a beautiful beach of golden sands and several kilometres long.

Moreover, on this beach there is a very old lighthouse of great height, which in the past was used as a guide for boats.

Along the beach you will find several places to rent hammocks and beach bars, it has protected areas where children can play, spaces to practice sports such as yoga and surfing, as well as delimited areas for nudism.

2. San Agustin Beach

This is a beach about 600 metres long, with calm waters that will make you forget about the world, it is a place to relax where you can sunbathe on its golden sands and also enjoy the services offered in its thalassotherapy centres.

It is located in the southern part of the island, next to El Inglés beach, so after spending a day of complete relaxation, you have the option of going to one of the many terraces found on that beach.

It is worth mentioning that it is possible to find excellent hotels in San Agustin from the Lopesan chain such as the Corallium Beach, which is one of the most sought after, located near Maspalomas, which has the ideal facilities to provide you with total relaxation.

3. Las Canteras Beach

It is one of the best beaches in Europe, it is located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, right in the centre, it is more than 3 kilometres long and has numerous natural charms, as well as offering various spaces to lie in a hammock or sunbathe, or go for long walks. In fact, it even has children's areas where children can enjoy the water and sand.

For sports lovers, you will also find some alternatives such as snorkelling while contemplating the marine beauty, and at one end of this beach you can go surfing.

On leaving the beach you will find a large avenue where various services are offered such as restaurants, shops, ice-cream parlours, terraces, among others.

4. Las Nieves Beach

Located in the northwest of Gran Canaria, in the village of Agaete, this is a small pebble beach with crystal-clear water that you should not miss. Firstly because it is next to the port of Las Nieves and the natural pools that you will find just a few metres away, and secondly because the Salinas are at the end of the avenue that runs along the coast of the beach.

This beach is very popular with scuba divers who love the local marine flora and fauna.

Nudists have made this beach their private paradise in certain areas of the beach.

5. Puerto Rico and Amadores

They are located in the municipality of Mogán, where you can enjoy the sun all year round. Its waters are crystal clear and calm, which makes it look like a saltwater lake, ideal for a relaxing swim.

In Amadores you will also get crystal clear waters and no waves, because it is protected by two dykes, inviting you to take a quiet swim, and to relax sunbathing on its soft white sands.

There are also landscaped promenades, beach umbrellas, sun loungers and a shopping area, as well as cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy exquisite gastronomy.
