Why Peace of Mind Should Be Built into Your Daily Routine

Peace of mind isn't just a luxury reserved for holidays or weekend getaways; it's a necessity that should be woven into the fabric of your everyday life. In a world that moves fast and demands more from us every day, having a sense of calm, control, and clarity can drastically change the way we live. Building peace of mind into your daily routine isn't about making huge life changes overnight – it's about small, thoughtful decisions that reduce stress and create stability.

Watercoolers help in the fight against heavy drinking

Self-service watercoolers are being installed in pubs and clubs across Devon in an effort to get partygoers to drink more water while they are on a night out.

Research has shown that making water freely available can help reduce the problems caused by heavy drinking including anti social behaviour, violent crime and domestic abuse.

The initiative called Project H2O is being supported by local councils and Community Safety Partnerships across Devon and Devon & Cornwall Police.

It is based on a pilot scheme in Gloucester which resulted in a significant drop in...

Know your rights when buying Christmas presents

It is that time of year again when most people are buying gifts, but what do you do if your gift is faulty? And what if you want to exchange a present that you do not like and do not have the receipt? In this article I will explain a bit more about the law relating to your consumer rights.

Faulty Goods

Tap dancing and jazz in the Cathedral? Christmas Jazz last Saturday, presented by Exeter Festival Chorus with soloist Jacqui Dankworth and the Big Buzzard Boogie Band, led by Andy Williamson, was the most joyous, exciting musical and spiritual experience. Jacqui Dankworth's perfectly modulated and clear voice transfixed us with the beauty of her sound and exquisite interpretation. Her voice has matured and developed so that she equals her mother Cleo Laine's range and expression, but absolutely asserts her individual style.

We were led by the musical director and conductor Nigel...

59 is the age pin-pointed by a survey as THE year to start growing old gracefully. The survey also reveals that women are eschewing cosmetic surgery and fillers, and believe that heavy make-up and mini-skirts should be given the heave-ho by the early 40’s. With Christmas party dressing on most women’s agenda in the coming week, choosing your party outfit and make-up could be a minefield if you are over 40.

77 per cent of those polled in the South West say women should grow old gracefully and not do everything they can to look younger.

The research, which polled 2000 women...

For the past few weekends, right in the heart of Exeter and under your noses, a new and very different form of theatre has been taking place.

In You With Me , there’s no stage, no visible actors, no audience sitting comfortably. Instead, this production offers a personal, unique and totally different experience, taking participants on a journey through Exeter and guiding them on a playful adventure in which unexpected incidents cause familiar routes to be seen with fresh eyes.

The perfomance starts with a phone call to a stranger - you know not what they look like...

One third of the way through your season and you are probably bored of your warm up. Don't worry: only another 6 months to go!

When working with athletes I stress the importance of the warm up as something to get better at, not something to get through. I use 4-5 different warm up themes, and add smaller variations as the season goes on.

Here are some ideas:

  • Use gymnastics as part of the warm up: rolling, tumbling and balancing.
  • Get on the ground and off the ground, don't keep in one plane of movement.
  • Use partner
