Killerton National Trust estate near Exeter has been declared ‘the perfect place for Nordic walking’ by Nordic Walking Devon.

Nordic walking is a full body exercise with specially designed poles that propel you forward as you walk. It’s a form of outdoor fitness that is easy on the joints because the poles take the weight off the knees and lower body joints which make you feel lighter on your feet. You work the entire major muscles in the body burning 20% - 40% more calories, yet strangely it feels easier than ordinary walking.

Older patients have higher expectations and are more satisfied with healthcare

The research questions prevailing stereotypes that characterise older patients as being satisfied with their care because their expectations are lower.

Patients visiting their GP and hospital outpatient departments were surveyed before and after their consultations. They were...

Park Bench Etiquette – would you stay or go?

Research reveals Brits in the South West give strangers the cold shoulder on park benches. Conversation-shy Brits in South West England would rather pack up and go if they are joined on a park bench by a stranger, research has revealed.

The fascinating study into our habits has revealed an unsociable streak when it comes to sharing a public space when having lunch or reading a book.

The nation is home to millions of park benches but sitting down unleashes territorial feelings with over a third of Brits in the South West (38%) admitting they would leave within five minutes...
