Exeter City's Football in the Community team to host health and fitness workshop

Total Rebuild is to hold a health and fitness workshop in partnership with Exeter City FC Football in the Community on Sunday 24 November. The day, which will be held in the sports hall at St James School, Summer Lane, Exeter, will comprise two workouts as well as informative sessions on the fundamentals of bodyweight exercise and safe, effective kettlebell usage.
Whether you are new to exercise, looking to introduce something new and exciting to your existing routine or want to kick start your system, there is something for everyone on the day, which will be run by James Bodley, a personal trainer and fitness expert.
Paul Morgan, a nutrition and sports science specialist, will also host a 45-minute Q and A session on health, lifestyle and nutrition.
The day will start with a bodyweight exercise session, which is a 45-minute circuit involving 12 bodyweight exercises burning, on average, in excess of 600kcal. These 12 exercises will then be broken down after the circuit has finished to explain what the purpose of each is, effective technique and how to implement the moves correctly to enable participants to feel confident on introducing these new moves into their own routines.
The second half of the day will introduce the kettlebell, going through the fundamental movements and exercises of the routine, such as the swing, goblet squat and thruster. The benefits of an effective kettlebell session as part of an exercise programme are enormous. Kettlebells are used in a variety of different ways from strength training and muscular endurance work to all-round cardiovascular fitness – they are a multi-gym in one item!
Jamie Vittles, Head of Community at Exeter City FC, says that everyone can benefit from the workshop, not just the already fit. “You don’t have to be a regular exerciser to come along to the workshop – the workout sessions will be tailored to each individual’s level of fitness.
“We would encourage people to come along and see how you can achieve a full workout just using your own bodyweight and one piece of equipment, the kettlebell. It’s ideal for those who perhaps don’t like doing circuits at the gym, or prefer to exercise at home or outdoors.”

Participants will take part in two challenging workouts which can burn in excess of 1,000 kcal and come away from the day with lots of practical information on bodyweight and kettlebell exercises, health and nutrition for a price of just £39. A workout diary, which recaps all the exercises and information from the day, as well as a T-shirt, are also included in the price.
Participants should bring plenty to drink, a packed lunch, snacks and suitable workout clothing.
