Vaping weed is a technological leap for traditional methods of inhaling burnt or vaporized weed such as joints and bongs. The intake is controlled and precise and the vapor doesn’t irritate your throat unlike a joint, nor does it leave a burning aftertaste when smoked through a bong. While a lot of us like to experiment with different varieties of weed to explore different dimensions of getting high, avid weed enthusiasts can’t help but ask if all types of weed are suitable for vaping. Read on as we explore the substances that can be used for vaping.

It Depends on Your Method of Consumption

Variety can be the spice of life and it does apply to vaping weed. There are currently two popular methods of inhaling weed vapors: through weed concentrates or through dry herbs. Concentrates are the liquid form generated from the extraction process of the cannabis plant. Vaporized concentrates produce a smooth, discrete smoke that doesn’t reek, which makes it preferred by new vape users or those transitioning from smoking to vaping.

Another popular method of consumption is dry herb vaping. According to Cannavapos, this consumption method is popular in countries outside the U.S. such as France because it is as close to traditional weed consumption as it can get. By putting cannabis flower into the vaporizing device, it is gradually and gently heated to produce vapor and contained in the plant, which includes the high-inducing THC.

It Depends on Your Vape’s Heating System

We’ll try not to get too technical with the mechanism of vapes, so we’ll describe the heating systems as concisely as possible. While all types of weed vapes utilize heat to activate the THC from concentrates or dry herbs. The heat delivered should just be enough to produce vapor and not smoke, which defeats the purpose of vaping. Currently, there are two kinds of heating systems in the market: the conduction heating system and the convection heating system. Both systems can extract high-inducing chemicals, aroma, and flavor from cannabis, but there are also key differences you should be aware of, which we will be discussing below.

Conduction Heating

Vapes that utilize conduction heating puts your weed concentrate or dry herb in direct contact with the heating mechanism, typically its coils, to get a fast heating time and vapor production. The catch of this heating mechanism is that it will burn the herb or concentrate if they get too close to the heating element for a long time. A workaround for this to shift the element around in the vape’s chamber.

Convection Heating

Convection vapes are the preferred type of dry herb users. Although the convection vape type is a bit expensive and takes longer to heat up, the quality of the vapor, the evenness, and flavor are all worth it. This is because the weed doesn’t get into direct contact with the heating element. Instead, it utilizes the circulation of hot air from the heating element with every pull, which vaporizes and doesn’t combust the product

Going back to the question of whether all types of weed are suitable for vaping or not, the answer would be yes. For both concentrates and dry herbs, different types and species of cannabis can be used. The only limitation here is technology. Currently, with various extraction and manufacturing methods for producing concentrates and dry herbs and with the constantly evolving vape technology, users are provided with a wide range of choices for their preferred consumption of weed vaping. With this, there is more reason why you should try out vaping at your style and preference.
