The award-winning charity, Exeter Food Action, will host the free one-day Exeter Food Action Festival in Princesshay Square on Sunday 20 September, from 10.30am to 4pm.

Brightside Exeter has welcomed a familiar face this month, with entertainer and presenter Michael Barrymore visiting the restaurant twice in the space of two weeks - first to film a TikTok, and then returning to shoot a full YouTube vlog after enjoying his initial stop so much.

Tucking into The Big Breakfast, buttermilk pancakes and coffee, Barrymore’s first visit, captured for TikTok, caused quite a stir, with guests and team members delighted by his trademark warmth and wit. He took time to chat with staff, pose for photos and speak with diners.

The countdown to the 2026 Food Drink Devon Awards has begun, and an outstanding list of finalists has been announced, showcasing the very best products, dining, retail and learning experiences the county has to offer.

Since entries closed at the end of March, a panel of respected judges and industry experts has carefully evaluated an impressive number of submissions. They have sampled more than 280 products, visited 110 hospitality venues, explored 12 retail outlets and experienced five training schools in their search for the very best in Devon.

Exeter to Celebrate Best of Local Food and Drink at Gate to Plate Festival

Exeter is set to host a celebration of the region's finest food and drink producers when the Exeter Gate to Plate Food Festival comes to Sidwell Street on Sunday 4 October.

The free, family-friendly event will bring together more than 70 food and drink makers from across Devon and the surrounding area, with most producers based within a 30-mile radius of Exeter.
