Crediton-based Sandford Orchards scoops more awards for non-alcoholic cider

Devon-based Sandford Orchards is celebrating a fantastic year of awards for its new non-alcoholic cider, Red Zero. It has just been named ‘Low and No Alcohol Category Champion’ by Taste of the West after winning Best Non-Alcoholic Cider at the World Cider Awards, Best New Drink at the Food Drink Devon Awards, Gold from The Farm Shop and Deli Awards and Silver from the Great British Food Awards.

The Real McCoy customers and Pickle Shack pop-up restaurant regulars were treated to an indulgent dining experience in the quirky surrounds of McCoy’s Arcade. Exeter Street Food’s weekly market at the Guildhall Shopping Centre has been so successful that organisers have decided to expand to Exeter Quay.

Lyndsey Terrell, Events Manager at Exeter Street Food said: “The Quay was the obvious choice. After living in Exeter for many years you see how integral it is to Exeter’s recreational activities.

“The Quay is also significant as it was the old fish market; and lovely that such a modern concept as ‘The Street Food Revolution’ ties in with the history of the venue."

Princesshay’s 45,000 bees have been busily producing honey for the shoppers of Exeter over the spring and summer months. The delicious golden honey is now available to buy from Chandos Deli in Princesshay, each purchase raises money for charity.

Over 100lbs of honey has been extracted from the five hives housed on the rooftop city garden in Princesshay. The diverse variety of expertly chosen fruit trees and bee friendly flowering plants has contributed to the honey’s sweet yet floral taste.

Business launches own brand of beer

An Exeter based investment management business has produced a novel idea to promote its brand by launching a specially brewed beer , the first stone brewed ale in Britain for 100 years.

Devon broiler farmer Tamsin French will dress as a chicken called ‘Rosa’, and embark on a 39-day tour of the European Union on Friday (1 August).

The 39Days4Rosa tour will take in 21 EU Member States and finish at the European Parliament in Brussels on 8 September.
