An Exeter based investment management business has produced a novel idea to promote its brand by launching a specially brewed beer , the first stone brewed ale in Britain for 100 years.

Dan Constable, the Head of Business Development at Hawksmoor Investment Management, thought of the using a bespoke beer as a marketing tool for use at events and took the idea to Briarbank Brewery on a visit to the firm’s Ipswich office.

Devon broiler farmer Tamsin French will dress as a chicken called ‘Rosa’, and embark on a 39-day tour of the European Union on Friday (1 August).

The 39Days4Rosa tour will take in 21 EU Member States and finish at the European Parliament in Brussels on 8 September.

‘Rosa’ is calling for clear, mandatory method of production labelling of poultry meat. She wants consumers to be able to answer the simple question: how was this chicken kept? Celebrate local food and music at Soupstock

Soupstock is a free summer celebration of local food and music which takes place at Knightshayes near Tiverton on 3, 10, 17 and 24 August,

Soupstock began last year as a way to help new audiences discover knightshayes.

There will be looking, learning – and lunching.

The Living Coasts Fantastic Fish Festival will include cooking demos by top local chefs, trails, aquarium talks, craft activities and dive shows.

I just can’t resist the temptation to ask the difference between English football and English wine...

Answer: At least our wines can hold their own at international competitions. But that might invite our friends in the Mosel to join in and Germany is having quite enough of a good thing already.
