Cornish Bakery open in Exeter

Cornish Bakery, the independent, founder-driven company first started in Mevagissey, Cornwall, is now open in the Cathedral city of Exeter. The beautiful, design-led new bakery opened in style on Monday 17th November 2025. The company already successfully operates bakeries nearby in Sidmouth, Totnes and Taunton.

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo, are helping visitors and local people to improve their diets.

The attractions are among local businesses working with Torbay Council to put more healthy choices onto children’s plates.

South West Water is calling on its customers to save the drains this Christmas and dispose of cooking fat, oil and grease responsibly.

The company's Head of Wholesale Waste Recovery and Environmental Protection, Guy Doble, said: "At Christmas, the volume of cooking fat entering the sewers increases dramatically.

"When the fat cools, it hardens, clogging pipes. It's not just sewers that suffer, household pipes can get blocked too which may result in hefty repair bills.

Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink took home a Devon Tourism Award for the third year running at last night’s ceremony, held at the Holiday Inn in Plymouth.

Devon vineyards lead the way as English fizz climbs to 4th most popular in the wine trade English sparkling wines are now the 4th best selling sparkling wines in the UK market.

Its producers are enjoying an extraordinary year of growth, with sales up by 48.5% compared to the summer of 2014, and has now overtaken New Zealand, which has slipped from fourth to sixth behind South Africa, according to Nielsen figures seen by wine web site Grapevine.

Ethical chef Robin Rea will be cooking up a storm in aid of the Devon Freewheelers blood bike charity at Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary on November 29.
