Food Drink Devon is delighted to announce that this year their prestigious award ceremony will be held on Monday 8th October 2018 at Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club, Umberleigh, North Devon and will be hosted by legendary broadcaster Nigel Barden.

Following 2017's record-breaking year, entries have now closed for the Food Drink Devon Awards 2018 and it looks set to be another bumper year with an increase of more than 10% in entrant numbers.

Ottery St Mary’s Rusty Pig has been nominated in the inaugural national Eat Game Awards 2018.

The aim of these new awards is to help raise the profile of game in the British menu and bring it to the attention of British restaurant goers.

Rusty Pig has long used game as a key ingredient in its dishes, particularly wild boar from Escot Estate, pheasant from the Upton Pyne shoot and locally caught pigeon and rabbit. The restaurant works closely with Tim Maddams, author of River Cottage Handbook No 15, Game .

Devon-based barbecue restaurant have launched a vegan menu in response to customers’ increasingly health-conscious food choices. The team, who also own an organic charcuterie company, are keen to promote meat-alternatives in a bid to encourage less but better-quality meat consumption.

More than 7,000 people enjoyed a first-rate day out with glorious sunshine at The Shops at Dartington’s free May Food Fair on 27-28 May. The best of Devon’s food and drink scene came together, from vibrant street-food markets to artisan producers, with top chefs demonstrating recipes and offering tricks of the trade.
