As the cold weather settles in why not warm yourself with one of these hot winter drinks using Devon produce.

Mulled Devon cider This was inspired by a mulled cider Barny Butterfield served up at Crediton Farmers Market last year.   2 litres Sandford Orchards scrumpy cider 1 lemon, thinly peeled, peel only 1 cinnamon stick 1/2 a nutmeg, grated 2 tablespoons juniper berries, slightely crushed   Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan and warm without boiling. Leave for a few hours off the heat. Warm through again, strain and serve in mulled wine cups or ordinary mugs, or heat proof glasses.   Mulled apple juice A non alchoholic verson can be made replacing the cider with a good apple juice such as Redhill Apple Juice, available on-line from Linscombe Farm (www.linscombe.co.uk ) or from Crediton Farmers Market, 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.   Warm cinnamon apple juice 2 litres Redhill Apple juice 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon   Warm the juice and cinnamon in a saucepan. Take off the heat to allow the falvours to infuse. Then warm up again, and strain into heat proof mugs, or glasses.   www.devonchef.co.uk     info@devonchef.co.uk   07980 284122
