Dining Devon Wins South West England Food Blog of the Year 2019

Dining Devon, a well-established online food blog, has been announced as South West England Food Blog of the Year 2019 by LUXlife Magazine, as part of their 4th annual Food and Drink Awards.

Founded in 2011, as Eating Exeter, the blog rebranded in 2017 due to its widening appeal and growing demand to visit establishments all over Devon to help with exposure for smaller independents as well as part of larger business PR campaigns.

Many featured venues are also just part of the three bloggers increasing appetite for the many tasty places they visit across Devon in their spare time.

Co-founded by Editor Chris Gower, Dining Devon has since bolstered the team with ex-hospitality Co-editor, Lauren Heath in 2016, and award-winning home cook Sue Stoneman in 2018.

Dining Devon was chosen by LUXlife through their extensive research and judging process, centred around an in-depth evaluation of skills, services, client satisfaction and wider market reputation Judges looked for expertise within a given field, dedication to customer service, and commitment to excellence and innovation.

Over recent years, the food and drink industry has seen a new wave of sectors burst into the market and influence the way we eat, drink and enjoy our favourite cuisines, from the prevalence of speciality eating practices and diets, such as veganism, to the emergence of consumer-led trends, such as food photography, companies working within the food and drink industry are working harder than ever to facilitate the diverse and evolving demands of millions of individuals worldwide.

Dining Devon Editor, Chris says, "I'm over the moon that we've won this award. It's really special to be recognised for the hard work that we put into the blog. But the hard work comes from the local restaurants and producers who we champion and advocate as much as we can."

"The hospitality sector is a tough world to live in right now, so we all need to champion our local foodie legends as much as we can. If you love a local producer or restaurant, spread the word. There are stark economic challenges that face many of the smaller businesses in these times, so we all need to be advocating those businesses that we love!

Sue says “Devon is well known not just for its amazing food larder of fresh produce and products, but also the many eateries in and around the county, many of which we have still yet to discover. It's great to be able to recommend places to eat to our followers, family and friends, be they newly opened, long established or have just caught our eye on our travels. I also love creating tasty recipes with some of the great produce we have here in Devon too.”

Lauren says “Having started my career in hospitality, the opportunity to blog about food and drink has been a joy and a privilege, although what a lot of people don’t realise is the time and hard work behind it all.”

“Although nowhere near as much hard work as the talented people are doing behind many fantastic food and drink businesses in Devon, and with the sea and the moors surrounding us, we’re so incredibly lucky to have high quality produce all around. Being recognised is a great way to end 2019.”
