Award winning company joins forces with TV star
Celebrating their passion for using the best, locally sourced ingredients, the award-winning The Venus Company is delighted to have joined forces with chef and TV presenter James Strawbridge to create two truly scrumptious new gourmet pasties. These utterly delicious Venus Strawbridge gourmet pasties will feature on The Venus Company’s new summer menu, which will be available in their popular cafés and takeaways in Devon and Cornwall from April.
These mouth-watering, handmade additions to Venus’ menu will be available in two sublime varieties - ‘Triple Cheese and Onion’ and ‘Minted Lamb and Yoghurt’. Within the rich buttery golden pastry of the Venus Strawbridge pasties, which is made using organic flour from the award winning Shipton Mill, is an explosion of flavours waiting to be discovered. Triple Cheese & Onion uses the finest Gouda, mature Davidstow Cheddar and creamy farmhouse Cornish Smuggler and is served with James’ homemade Red Tomato relish. Whilst beneath the exquisite turmeric and chilli pastry of the Minted Lamb and Yoghurt pasty lies tender lamb shoulder marinated in gently spiced natural yoghurt, garlic, fennel and mint with a cooling Organic Harissa Mayo. So, next time you’re visiting Blackpool Sands, The Shops at Dartington, East Portlemouth or Bigbury On Sea in Devon or Watergate Bay and Tolcarne Beach in Cornwall, pop into The Venus Company and tuck into a Venus Strawbridge gourmet pasty.
Commenting on The Venus Company and Posh Pasty Company’s collaboration, Michael Smith, co-owner of The Venus Company, said:
“It’s been a delight to work with James and create two wonderful new pasties.”
“James shares our philosophy for buying local ingredients and also for sourcing and operating in a sustainable way, for example the use of biodegradable packaging and all the chutneys and dips are made at an eco-farm powered by a waterwheel and solar PV panels. As a company positioned in some of the South West’s most beautiful locations, we at Venus strive to minimise the harmful effects our business has on the environment. Our partnership with the Posh Pasty Company is therefore a perfect fit.”
On behalf of the Posh Pasty Company, James said:
“I am thrilled to be working with Michael and The Venus Company on this joint new venture.”
“It’s a fantastic way for us to showcase the very best South West producers and also to add a new level of desirability to the already hugely popular Cornish pasty.”
James, who rose to fame alongside his father Dick in ITV 1’s The Hungry Sailors, last year turned his passion for pasties into a business, founding the Posh Pasty Company.
Located at some of the region’s most stunning beaches, The Venus Company has a handful of must visit beach cafés, takeaways and shops. This popular, family run business serves a delicious array of tempting food and drink and prides itself on sourcing excellent quality, local, healthy and tasty produce. There is also a Venus Café at The Shops at Dartington, near Totnes.
Their philosophy is best summed up by their strapline ‘Loving the Beach’. Twice they have won the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development (in 2010 and 2005). One of only ten companies throughout the UK to have been awarded a sustainability honour in 2010 and one of only eight companies to have achieved the award in 2005.
The Posh Pasty Company (www.poshpasty.co) is a small family business founded by James Strawbridge and his wife Holly in 2013. They supply a range of trendy delis, foodie pubs, tourist attractions, independent cafes and farm shops across the region and can be seen travelling the South West in their vintage VW Food Truck.
