Joy Wilkinson, a resident at RMBI Home Cadogan Court in Exeter, has been reunited with a recording from her husband Eric, an RAF serviceman, whilst he was serving in India during the Second World War.

The message was found on an old record by a member of the public in Salisbury during a clear out and was played on BBC’s The One Show, to help reunite the recording with its rightful owner.

Representatives from the RAF Association visited the Home on Tuesday 8 May to give the recording back to Joy and had a short chat with her which featured later on The One Show.

Eric sadly passed away some years ago after the couple’s Golden Wedding Anniversary and Joy says hearing the recording was sentimental.

“I enjoyed listening to it and hearing the words he said,” says Joy. “To hear him say I love you, it was really something.”

You can watch the full recording on  BBC’s The One show online at https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer . The story features at approximately 22mins.
