City supporters celebrate South American links on Brazil takeover day

St James Park rocked to the beat of a Samba band as Exeter City Football Club celebrated its unique partnership with Brazil this weekend.

The League One club was the first team to ever play the national Brazil side – and thanks to some sterling work by the club’s museum team in uncovering the details of that tour in 1914 – the club celebrates and continues to build on its links.

This Saturday’s match against Bolton Wanderers was designated a Brazilian themed day to commemorate that link – and everything from the matchday music to the food served in hospitality got the South...

Grecians take all three points after positive display

City 1 Cambridge United 0

A late winner from Nicky Law gave Exeter City all three ppints at home to an in-form Cambridge United side.

Despite considerable pressure United managed to hold out until the 82nd minute when Nicky Law appeared down the left before seeing his effort take a deflection and end up in the back of the net.

Grecians boss Matt Taylor made two changes to the side that went down 1-0 in Newport last weekend, with Lee Holmes and Lee Martin returning to the starting 11 in place of Craig Woodman and Ryan Bowman.

City threatened to penetrate on...

Exeter City sign Jaden Brown on loan until the end of the season

Exeter City have signed Huddersfield Town full-back Jaden Brown on loan until the end of the season.

The highly-rated defender has represented England at under-19 level and is known for his pace and ability to get and up and down the wing.

Speaking about the signing, City manager Matt Taylor said: “He is a dynamic left sided defender. We have got the experience of Craig Woodman and Dean Moxey who can cover that position, but this lad is going to get up and down that touchline time and time again.

“It gives me an option if I wanted to play five at the back because he...

The Grecians fall to defeat at Rodney Parade

Exeter City fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away from home at Newport County AFC in Sky Bet League Two.

Jamille Matt's second half finish was the difference on the day where the Grecians went agonisingly close when Dara O'Shea's header was well saved and Ryan Bowman hit the crossbar.

Manager Matt Taylor made two changes to the side that began the goalless draw with Morecambe last weekend as Ryan Bowman made his first start for the club and Kane Wilson came into the side following his loan signing earlier in the week.

The first real chance of the match fell on eight...

Randell Williams joins Exeter City from Watford

Randell Williams says Exeter City’s reputation for developing and improving players was the reason he decided to put pen to paper on a permanent deal at St James Park.

The 22-year-old winger, who has spent the last year on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, joins City from Watford.

He comes with a proven track record having played six games for the Chairboys last season as they were promoted from League Two and 23 games for them this campaign in League One.

“I am very pleased to have joined,” said Randell. “I know about the club and I am just happy to be here.

“I...

Grecians and city council on the ball to back Armed Forces Covenant

Exeter City Council has linked up with Exeter City Football Club to show support for those who serve in the armed forces.

Both have backed Exeter’s Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the fantastic job that service personnel do and acknowledging their hard work and bravery.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

In Exeter, a number of businesses have signed up to the covenant and pledged discounts to service personnel and their families....

Kane Wilson rejoins City on loan

Kane Wilson says he has unfinished business with Exeter City having agreed to join the club on loan again until the end of the season.

Kane, 18, who has represented England at under-16 and under-17 level, spent the majority of last season on loan at St James Park where he made 22 appearances for the Grecians and scored his first goal in senior football in a 2-1 victory over Barnet.

It was a successful time for the club as City reached the League Two play-off final, before losing to Coventry City at Wembley. However, Kane has set his sights on going one better this time...

Grecians play out draw at St James Park

Exeter City were unable to make their offensive pressure pay dividends as the Grecians were forced to settle for a goalless draw against Morecambe at St James Park.

The Grecians dominated much of the ball and the chances, but credit to the Morecambe defence, who shut down the City attacks to prevent them making it two wins from two.

City boss Matt Taylor made one change to the starting 11, with Lee Holmes returning from injury in place of Chiedozie Ogbene.

It was an evenly-matched opening period, with the home side producing some attacking football that was very...

Ryan Bowman signs for Exeter City

Ryan Bowman says he is looking forward to helping Exeter City push towards League One having signed for the Devon club. Bowman who joins from Scottish Premier League side Motherwell for an undisclosed fee, says he was excited about joining Exeter having chatted to manager Matt Taylor and assistant manager Eric Kinder, who was his former youth team coach at Carlisle. “There was a couple of clubs ringing up about me as I was coming to the end of my contract with Motherwell and I thought it was time for a change,” said Ryan. “I spoke to the manager a few times and he sold the club to me...
