150 children queue to see Santa!

More than 150 children queued to see Santa at a Christmas fair held in Beacon Heath over the weekend.

It was worth the wait as they entered Santa’s Winter Wonderland of magical lights and snow at the Beacon Heath Children’s Centre, while next door in The Beacon Centre there were lots of Christmas stalls, carols by the Hospiscare Choir and a café.

Stalls included Devon Refugee Support, the Labour Party cake stall, Hospiscare, Traid Craft, Willowbrook School and the Campaign for Eastern Fields.

Christmas quiz night in Tiverton

QUIZ fans of all ages are being invited to put their knowledge to the test in a Christmas Quiz Night in Tiverton.

Teams of up to six people can enter the event at Tiverton Golf Club on Saturday 12 December (7pm for 7.30pm).

The event is open to non-members and will feature a new-look format with a big screen.

Entry is £6 per person, to include a buffet. Places are limited and the deadline for entries is Wednesday 9 December.

Plans to be submitted for Sidbury to Sidford walking and cycling trail

A planning application for a proposed walking and cycling trail from Sidbury to Sidford will shortly be submitted by Devon County Council.

The scheme includes a 1km surfaced walkway and cycleway running between Laundry Lane in Sidford and the southern boundary of Sidbury. The trail runs along agricultural land on the Eastern side of the A375 and then passes onto boardwalk through woodland at Sidbury.

The route has been chosen following public exhibitions in Sidbury and Sidford in February 2014, as well as consultation with affected parties and a presentation to Sidmouth...
