Two University of Exeter a cappella groups are battling on a new primetime TV show to win the chance to record an album at the famous Abbey Road studios.

Semi-Toned and the Illuminations are taking part in a new Sky One programme to find the country’s best vocal group. If successful they will also get the chance to release a Christmas single.

An exclusive awards ceremony and exhibition opening at Exeter Phoenix on Thursday 14 September saw Aimee Parrott announced as the winner of the prestigious £1000 Overall Award for Exeter Contemporary Open 2017. Aimee Parrot said, ‘I’m really surprised. It’s been a privilege to be showing amongst so many good works. For me making art is a line of exploration.
