On March 7th ‘The Rogues Gallery – A Neo-Vaudeville Night of Delights’ comes to Exeter. As the title suggests it’s a modern take on the Victorian Vaudeville variety show. With everything vintage being in vogue right now- in Exeter there are no less than seven shops with a vintage theme- this is the show to see.

Returning to The Barnfield Theatre following its hugely successful debut in October 2014, the show includes some new acts and never seen before collaborations. There are eleven performers in all for a ticket price of only £12.50. It’s a fast moving, unique show which is fun, quirky and sometimes rather naughty, in keeping with the traditional vaudeville format while remaining current.

Hosting the show is award winning Bristol comedian Cerys Nelmes - she is a leading professional MC on the comedy circuit, has a regular solo show at The Edinburgh Festival and has appeared on national television and radio. She is currently on tour throughout the UK and back on our screens in the comedic Halfords adverts.

Bringing magic into the mix, Marc Lobb has been dubbed ‘The next Derren Brown’ and has won many awards for his sleight of hand work, audience participation and his unfathomable mind reading.

The Copperfield Ensemble and Miss Von Trapp take us back to the glorious Music Hall days, with dark cabaret and sing along tunes with a mischievous and humorous touch. The Ensemble is an eight piece band including a string quintet, whose songs tell tales of history from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to the fall of the British Empire. Miss Von Trapp performs murderously dark songs from her recent album ‘Songs To Die For’.

More live music comes from slaughterhouse blues masters (yes you read that correctly) The Wattingers who will be performing a specially arranged one-off semi acoustic set with Miss Von Trapp accompanying them on cello.

The final musical performance is from the wonderfully unique GurdyBird; following a summer of main stage appearances which have firmly established a reputation for outstanding musicianship and wonderful live performance, Gurdybird has delighted old friends and new fans alike with the release of her first album ‘Different Ships, Different Long Splices’.

Interlaced between the main acts and sustaining the pace of the show, The Rogues Gallery also has five of the finest Burlesque artistes in the UK, including International stars Cherry Ve’Dore and Poppy Raine as well as the two favourites of the South West Angelique Dominique and Luna L’amour.

Finally, The Fantastic Ms Fanny, trained in improvisation and clowning, with a side in baking cakes, provides a slightly skewed burlesque interpretation of the world around her that never fails to bring a smile to audiences...closely followed by some faint nausea... this really is something you have never seen before.

Tickets are available from The Barnfield Box Office and online.
