Sizzling Summer Sundays On The Quay

Exeter Canal and Quay Trust hope to revitalise Sundays on the Quay this summer with a stunning programme of free jazz and street theatre each week starting on Sunday 14 July and running right through the summer until Sunday 1 September.

The programme presents a range of some of the top traditional, New Orleans Jazz bands from the South West, featuring John Shillito’s Select Six, the Sunset Café Stompers, Des Bacon’s Red Hot Syncopators, the Charleston Dandies, the Dart Valley Stompers and the ever-popular City Steam Jazz Band. Perfect accompaniment for sitting in the sunshine over Sunday lunch in one of the many cafes or bars down near the Transit Shed on Exeter Quay. Each Sunday the band will play two sets; one at 12.30pm and a second set at 2.15pm.

In between jazz sets courtesy of Fools Paradise, a range of the best street theatre acts in the UK will be performing outside the Transit Shed and then again on the other side of the river on Piazza Terracina. The 8 week programme features Vinny the silent clown; Goronwy Thom with his unique mix of magic, circus and improvisation; the popular juggling skills of Dan the Hat; Musical Ruth the hilarious musical nun; clowning and acrobatics from Tumbleweed Theatrics; balloon art from Balloonatic and virtuoso saw-playing from Dennis Teeth.
