London Concertante Brings Candlelit Concert to Exeter
The Four Seasons & The Lark Ascending performed by London Concertante
Internationally acclaimed chamber orchestra London Concertante will come to Exeter on Friday 27th June for a 7:30pm performance at the Cathedral.
Set amidst the gentle glow of candlelight, the programme celebrates some of the greatest works in the classical repertoire – from Mozart’s effervescent overture to The Marriage of Figaro to Vivaldi’s visionary Four Seasons. Rounding off the evening is Vaughan Williams’s exquisite The Lark Ascending, a piece adored for its soaring, lyrical solo violin.
The star soloist will be Welsh violinist Charlie Lovell-Jones, one of the most promising international soloists of his generation. At just fifteen, he made his Royal Festival Hall debut to a sold-out audience and has since performed across the UK and overseas with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
Lovell-Jones has collaborated with a host of celebrated conductors and boasts a distinguished record of performances and recordings, including appearances at the BBC Proms with John Wilson’s Sinfonia of London.
London Concertante is thrilled to return to Exeter. Having captivated audiences for over three decades, the ensemble is frequently cited as the perfect orchestra for first-time concertgoers, reflecting its devotion to enriching the cultural landscape in every performance.
The stage in the Cathedral will be illuminated by flickering candles, creating a truly special ambience.
