Jon Hopkins, electronica maestro, returns to Exeter !

7RAYS is a non-profit, music promotions initiative whose mission is to provide a sustainable platform in the West Country for electronic music that may fall outside the remit of the usual electro-genre classifications, resonating particularly with the psychedelic state of mind.

To keep these nights alive, as we believe in small venues that allow meaningful and symbiotic connection between audience and artist, sustainably for the future, we need the support of the local community and visitors from afar alike. It's a financial tightrope to stay afloat and make these events happen, and we believe now more than ever, sounds and rhythms which push our perceived boundaries are a critical part of human well being and positive evolution into a future where we thrive, sustainably and in harmony with all things.

Following our inaugural event, the JON HOPKINS gig we put on in May 2019, and in collaboration again with MIHANGELF PROMOTIONS, we have organised this further benefit evening, which we hope will boost the funds raised last time and enable us to provide further, similar gigs.  It was a very special night last time, a wonderful fusion of techno, electronica and acid grooves, all clothed in NEUROTRITION'S UV and laser spectacular, deep in the underground cellars of MOVE dance music venue on the quayside in Exeter, with its brutal FunktionOne rig. 

Again, our venue for this will be MOVE and decor/lasers will again be provided by guys from the amazing NEUROTRITION collective based in Torquay.

In addition to JON HOPKINS there will be 2 other electronic music DJs coming to support our vision and to work that Move Funktion-One rig.  So here we are once again, and we very proudly present :

JON HOPKINS dj set -

Jon Hopkins is one of electronic music’s most distinctive and creative artists. He’s put out his bewilderingly intricate fusions of techno & ambient on five full-length albums, and his unique sound has earned him many accolades as a pioneer of contemporary electronica.

His set last year was a masterclass and it's a massive honour to welcome him back to Exeter to play us some more of his selection of psychedelic techno & electronica gems.  

JACHIN BOAZ (Ishq, Elve, Polyrhythmi) dj set -

Jachin Boaz, acid lord of Kernow, played for us last year, showcasing his transcendent, transformative, grooves, blowing us all away with his unhinged set of tribal-acid madness, and we are eagerly anticipating a full 2 hour set this time. 

SPATIALIZE dj set -

This time we welcome Spatialize, aka Neil Butler, with his Kernowik coastal blend of ambient electronica to ease us out of our minds.  Spatialize has been quietly releasing high quality, downtempo electronica and ambience from the south west of the UK since 2004, releasing over 10 albums and contributing tracks and remixes to chilled compilations.

He has played chill out stages and festivals across the UK and Europe and supported the likes of Eat Static and System 7.  His atmospheric ambient project, Experiments in Silence, has recently moved into live looping territory. This dj slot at gives him a rare opportunity to move outside of the live downtempo genre, rummage through his record collection and play some choice electronica and ambience.
