Author Jack Slater’s fictional detective DS Pete Gayle, based at Heavitree Road police station, is facing another set of challenges in the latest book in the series, No Going Back, released on 1 May.

First published in January 2017 by HQ Digital, an imprint of the publishing giant Harper Collins, DS Gayle achieved top ten sales rankings in his genre on the Kobo digital publishing platform with both of his first two cases, Nowhere To Run and No Place To Hide, as well as doing well on Amazon and gaining excellent reviews on both web sites.

In No Going Back, the problems in DS Gayle’s personal life are still unresolved and he has barely finished with his last case when circumstances thrust him into another.

A woman’s body is found in woods outside the city. The frenzied killing and the way she was left, naked and posed, send conflicting signals.

Was she known to her attacker or is a potential serial killer operating in South Devon? With no clues left at the scene, Pete and his team must first identify the victim before they can even start looking for a suspect.

The e-book is available to buy from 1 May.
