Local lady Wendy from Chudleigh will be hosting her annual, fun-filled street party on Saturday September 2nd. This year she will be raising money for a charity close to her heart, Pancreatic Cancer Action.

Wendy, owner of the Bishop Lacy Inn on Fore Street organises the community event to bring everyone together for a day of celebration that anyone can come along to free of charge. The road will be closed from 12pm – 12am so the party can take place. There will be live bands from 2pm to 11pm and a raffle with local companies helping out for free.

“The day is in memory of Elizabeth Bayliss, one of my regular customers mum, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer just 3 months after diagnosis.”

“It will be a great day which will bring the community together but also make more people aware of this horrible illness so it doesn’t take someone else.”

Pancreatic cancer is the UK’s 5th biggest cancer killer. The survival rate is just 5% which is the lowest of any cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer Action is committed to working towards earlier diagnosis of the disease so that surgery, currently the only cure, is made available to the sufferer.  The charity fund research into early diagnosis, provide medical education programmes, and launch awareness campaigns.

Ali Stunt, Founder of Pancreatic Cancer Action, said: “We are delighted that Wendy is giving her time and effort to organise this wonderful event in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Action.

”We rely solely on donations from the public and thanks to people like Wendy, we can continue our vital work. Please back Wendy in her fundraising efforts.”
