Singing triumphs for QE student!

Congratulations to Year 10 QE student, Ava Fitzhugh, who recently brought home two big musical wins!

Ava competed in the District Final of the Rotary Young Musician of the Year 2019, between winners in Devon and Cornwall this weekend at Fowey (she already won the East Devon final) and managed to win her stage.

Ava sang Handel and Mozart and goes on to compete at the Regional Finals on 31St March.

There has been some press coverage this week regarding the UK Youth Strike 4 Climate. NAHT does not condone children and young people missing school as a consequence of supporting action. Pupils should only be out of school in exceptional circumstances.

South West alumni urged to join programme boosting students’ university chances

Former students of state secondary schools in the South West are being urged to use their experience and skills of higher education to boost current students’ chances of going to university.

The programme in twenty-five secondary schools and three colleges is run by the national education charity Future First and funded by Next Steps South West, part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme which aims to widen participation in higher education, increasing the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education by 2020.
