Primary School students enjoy new gardening adventures thanks to Otter Garden Centres

Students at Ottery Primary School are set to enjoy more hands-on gardening activities thanks to the donation of a beautiful new potting shed from Otter Garden Centres .

The idea grew from discussions held during Otter’s 60 Good Deeds campaign, celebrating the company’s 60th anniversary in 2024. Otter first helped the school by replacing the wood on raised beds, providing a new pond liner, and installing a roof for the forest school firepit area, making outdoor learning possible all year round.

Sophia, a standout athlete from West Exe School , has made waves on the track and field stage this summer, winning double gold at both the Devon Schools Athletics Championships and the Southwest Schools Championships.

Sophia took first place in both the Triple Jump and Long Jump at the Devon event, setting a new personal best of 5.58 metres in Long Jump. Her success continued as she went on to claim gold again in both events at the Southwest Schools Championships.

Wynstream Primary School in Exeter, part of Education South West , is celebrating a remarkable sporting achievement as its Under 11 Dodgeball team progressed to the National Finals for the third consecutive year, this time achieving their highest-ever finish at the regional stage with a runner-up position.

Local schools including Kenn C of E Primary School and Kenton Primary School have benefitted from a free fruit tree planting programme offered across Devon, Dorset and South-West Somerset by environmental education company Little Green Change.

Schools were able to choose up to four apple, pear, plum and/or cherry trees each for their grounds.
