Find World Book Day costumes for free in Devon libraries

Libraries Unlimited is partnering with Recycle Devon to bring World Book Day costume swap rails to 15 libraries in Devon. World Book Day 2026 is Thursday, 5th March and library swap rails are running from 16th February to 8th March. Customers are invited to donate outgrown, unwanted children’s costumes in good, wearable condition. Costumes will be available to take home for free!

Exeter School’s U15 Cricket Team have added to their recent trophy haul by becoming West Of England Cricket Champions at the Final held in Sherborne on Wednesday 3 July. And the cherry on the cake is that it has just been announced that Exeter School pupil Ben Green has been named Captain of the South and West U15 cricket team for the Bunbury Festival, taking place at Durham University on 21-26th July 2013. A new apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare is reaping rewards for both the apprentice and employer, Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.

Chelsea Crossman, 17, from Zeal Monachorum, is celebrating after being awarded the Apprentice of the Year award from the Faculty of Healthcare, Childcare and Public Services at Exeter College. Grassroots cricket team, Stoke Hill Junior School, are asking for their local community to vote for them to win the prize of a lifetime, the chance to attend a training session with England cricket legends.

Forty grassroots cricket teams all over the UK are competing to win the dream prize, which is part of the grassroots cricket campaign launched by premium home appliance brand AEG.

Imaginative writing workshop at A la Ronde

Why not take advantage of a long summer evening by attending an imaginative writing workshop at A la Ronde?

The workshop, held from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday 4 July, is led by short story writer, Meredith Miller.

Fiction and fiction and non-fiction prose is the focus and Meredith hopes to use the unique history of the property as a starting point to inspire writers of all levels to develop their voice and use their imagination. Pupils show great joy in learning at outstanding Copplestone Primary

Copplestone Primary has been judged as outstanding for the third time in succession.

Three Exeter School boys played in the UK Festival of Hockey, coming second in the tournament - and two were selected to represent the UK. Fourth Form boys Ben Crocker, Will Sliver and Bill Taylor represented the U13 West of England hockey team, the West Panthers. Local floristry College, The Academy of Floral Art, has recently released their first book, published by David & Charles, called Chic & Unique Flower Arrangements .

Outdoor education centre Haven Banks officially 'handed over' to Council

The multi-million outdoor education centre, Haven Banks in Exeter has officially been handed over to Devon County Council.

The Council's leader, John Hart was formally handed the keys after a final site visit and tour of the facility.

The £5.6 million centre was funded by proceeds from the sale of Exeter airport and was the biggest single sum allocated from the sale. It replaced the old, outdated activity centre located on the canal basin.
