Exeter Deaf Academy Get Set To Make A Change

Six students from Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education will be getting involved in the “Get Set to Make a Change” initiative managed by the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association.

Six students attended a roadshow yesterday (28 November) where they met both an Olympian and Paralympian. They will also learn how to plan, organise and deliver community projects and events inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic Games

The roadshow is the first step, the next is to plan and run the community event, guided by a programme mentor. We will be giving updates of our student’s activities through our website www.exeterdeafacademy.ac.uk

The overall aim of the project is to use the magic, power and inspiration of the Olympic and Paralympic games to empower young people to work together to make positive changes in their community.

Geoff Davey a teacher accompanying the students said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for some of our students to become involved in the Paralympic movement. It should be a really positive experience for our students to enjoy new activities that the Olympians do and be inspired by the Olympians themselves.”
