Creative youngsters began their two-week intensive Summer School at the Exeter Northcott Theatre last week. From 18 – 30 August participants, aged between 12 and 19, will be working with Polly Agg-Manning, Exeter Northcott Theatre’s Associate Director for ENGAGE, and a skilled team at the Exeter Northcott to develop a professional piece of theatre, Just So, which will culminate in a performance at the theatre on Saturday 30 August.

Just So is based around the true story of a soldier in the First World War. Before the night Jack Kipling went into battle he kept the troops’ spirits high with his father's magical stories. For just a few hours the trench was not an unbearable pit of devastation, but an imaginary escape into the Indian Jungle, to the stories of everyone's childhood and to a place of happiness and hope where everything was Just So.

“Like always it's such a treat to be able to work with such a talented group of people- they are all full of energy, wonderful ideas and enthusiasm. The play will be extraordinary- powerful, funny and sad. I just can't wait to see them all on stage in a performance that they have created themselves.” said Polly Agg-Manning.

During the two-week Summer School, the participants will develop professional industry skills as well as performing on the Exeter Northcott stage.
