Local disability support service awarded £5,000 from The Cadbury Foundation

Local disability support charity, Community Equality Disability Action (CEDA), has received a £5,000 donation from The Cadbury Foundation, thanks to the support of local Mondelēz International employees in Crediton.

CEDA, which is a Devon-based charity dedicated to promoting the social inclusion of people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities, was selected by employees based at Mondelez International’s Crediton site, as part of The Cadbury Foundation’s annual ‘Your Charity, Your Choice’ programme.

Foam-filled fun as Bubble Rush 5k comes to Exeter - and will boost charity Pete's Dragons

A foam-filled 5k fun run where participants are bombarded by colourful bubbles is coming to Exeter for the first time.

Bubble Rush will bring its frothy, family-friendly festivities to Exeter Racecourse on Saturday, June 29, and fundraisers can boost a fantastic cause.

Pete’s Dragons, which helps hundreds of suicide bereaved families across Devon, will benefit from sponsorship cash netted by those who brave the bubbles.

The fun run will feature four bubble stations where foam canons will be pumping out masses of coloured bubbles.

Team Mi-space exceeds £50,000 fundraising target for Prostate Cancer

Mi-space’s charity cycling team has exceeded their fundraising target of £50,000 one month ahead of their June 7thride from London to Amsterdam, in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

This is the second year that Mi-space has participated in the event, last year raising £14,300 with a team of 11 riders. This year Mi-space set out to achieve far more, in terms of rider participation, awareness of Prostate Cancer and raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK; they now have a contingent of 32 riders.

Grieving families support others ‘at their most vulnerable'

A decision made by bereaved families has enabled £8,000 to be donated to a Devonshire hospice.

The donation was made to Hospiscare by the East Devon Crematorium, near Exeter, thanks to the generosity of families who have lost a loved one.

The donation was raised through a national verified scheme that recycles metals which remain after cremation with the express consent of bereaved families, such as items used in the construction of the coffin or orthopaedic implants.

Hospiscare currently supports around 740 patients and their families and friends

25 years of growing success for local family business

Boyces at Manstree, a small family-run business based in Shillingford St George, are delighted to be celebrating their 25th Anniversary this month.

Brothers Tim and Simon Boyce, together with their parents Clive and Susan, took over the fruit farm and vineyard in 1994. Topsham residents and visitors can look forward to the reopening of the popular Devon Air Ambulance Vintage & Variety charity shop in Fore Street this Saturday.

A Devon woman running her first half marathon in aid of Just 4 Children’s Oscar’s Happy Feet has seen her fundraising effort boosted by a housebuilder’s charity fund.
