Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently presented Honiton Carers Support Group with a cheque for £1,000 to support towards the cost of transport to enable their participants to attend the group. Honiton Carers Support Group is a warm and welcoming Carers Group which supports unpaid carers throughout their caring role and beyond. RGB Building Supplies is thanking the local community for supporting its Big RGB Christmas Appeal in aid of Devon Air Ambulance. The appeal invited people to donate good quality, pre-loved items to a drop point in RGB’s Exeter branch.

Bulk bags full of clothing, shoes, books, DVDs and Blu Rays, toys, accessories, jewellery and bric-a-brac were given and passed on to the charity. The items will now be sold in Devon Air Ambulance shops helping it continue to save hundreds of lives across Devon.

With temperatures set to plummet and bills for the first half of the winter landing on the mat, a Devon charity is urging people to get in touch so they can help those who are vulnerable reduce their energy bills and save money this winter.

Staff and volunteers from Devon Communities Together are available until March 31 to give free advice to people who need assistance with saving energy and money, with one-to-one advice available alongside community-based drop-in sessions such as presentations to groups, clubs and special events organised by community organisations.

Staff at local insurer The Exeter have raised an incredible £21,716.64 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Nearly £13,000 has been raised by Devon and Dorset co-operative colleagues and customers in 2019 for local causes close to their hearts.

Every year, each convenience store part of Southern Co-op, partners with a special local cause chosen by colleagues.

Lord Taverner's celebrate record breaking amount raised at Christmas lunch

Tuesday 10th December saw the return of the annual regional Lord’s Taverners Christmas lunch, taking place once again at Exeter’s famous Sandy Park. 636 attendees descended upon the grounds, to raise a record-breaking £73, 850 for charity. University and Hospiscare to recycle Christmas trees

The University of Exeter and Hospiscare will team up to recycle Christmas trees and support terminally ill people and their families.

Hospiscare’s vans will collect trees from Exeter, Exminster and Cranbrook between 11-17 January, in exchange for a £10 donation.

Trees will then be taken to the University’s Streatham Campus to be chipped by the grounds team, with help from Bicton College agriculture students.

Chippings will be given to the Avanti Hall School (previously the Steiner Academy) or used to improve local footpaths.
