Pitch perfect: Football meets rugby in Exeter’s Strive ‘25 takeover

Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

Dame Helen Mirren is urging residents in the South West to help raise money for homeless and vulnerable people in an appeal launched by Just Eat and Social Bite. Other well-known faces including Rob Brydon and Sir Chris Hoy have posted videos backing the new Christmas Meal Appeal launched by Just Eat in partnership with charities Social Bite & FoodCycle .

The appeal comes after reports detail the increasing issue of homelessness in the UK, and the increased pressure and reliance on charities as the nation deals with the economic and social fallout of the Covid pandemic....

Exeter firm raises £1000 for Force Charity with desk cycle challenge

Devon digital advertising agency, Launch Online, has raised £1000 for the FORCE Cancer Charity Autumn Bike Ride initiative after the team cycled over 245 miles from underneath their desks during November.

With the help of a fleet of mini pedal exercisers, which fit underneath the desk, the team generated over 389,466 revolutions on their desk bikes over the four weeks of lockdown while they worked.

Senior account manager Elliot Smith was the overall winner of the challenge, nicknamed the Tour de Office, achieving an amazing 101,463 revolutions over the month-long...

Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary has teamed up with Hospiscare for a festive draw with an amazing top prize – which could turn into two!

A group of charity-minded Exeter College students have been inundated with knitted clothing after a post asking for donations went viral on Facebook.

A tutor group of Health and Social Care students have been collecting various knitted items for distribution to neonatal units around the country to help keep babies that are premature or with additional needs to stay warm in the days after birth. Students had planned to contact a few local knitting groups to help create small knitted hats, gloves and blankets but after a poster found its way on to Facebook the request has gone viral...

Students from the University of Exeter have raised more than £136,000 for charity through a series of hair-raising challenges and events.

Hundreds of students from across the University have been taking part in a host of tasks to raise funds for the annual ‘Movember’ challenge – which raises money and awareness around men’s mental health and cancer.
