Exeter Airport firefighters raise over £2,500 for Young Lives vs Cancer

Two firefighters from Exeter Airport have raised more than £2,500 for charity after successfully completing the gruelling 100km Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge in South Wales.

Chris Briggs and Iwan Jones, who serve with Exeter Airport Fire & Rescue Service, took on the two-day endurance event to support Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that provides vital help to children, young people and their families facing cancer.

The cause was especially personal for Chris, whose sister-in-law, Kaley Fitzsimmons, passed away 10 years ago at the age of just 33 from osteosarcoma...

Exeter resident prepares to take on Bath Half Marathon

An Exeter resident has decided to dust off his trainers and take on the challenge of running the Bath Half Marathon for the first time, to help young people across the South West fight cancer.

Joe McDonnell, 20, a final year student at the University of Exeter, is preparing to take on the fast and flat 13.1 mile course on Sunday 3rd March in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Joe, who lives on Old Park Road, decided to run the half marathon for Teenage Cancer Trust after his twin sister Sinead was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in May last year.

Exeter Airport staff plan fundraising fun run in aid of FORCE

Local cancer charity, FORCE, has been selected for the second year as Exeter Airport’s Charity of the Year and it will benefit from a special fundraising event when 170 of the airport’s employees run the length of the runway.

Exeter Airport’s managing director Matt Roach said: “Our members of staff were keen to continue their support for FORCE and proposed a special event to raise funds in a way that was unique to the airport. The Runway Fun Run will be a first for Exeter and we anticipate that this will be a great success.”
