Exeter technology inventor to speak at conference

Andrew Stamp, the CEO of Exeter-based company Brain-In-Hand, will be one of the keynote speakers at The Autism Show later this month.

Mr Stamp will discuss 'the human side of assistive technology' at the prestigious event at ExCel in London. The Autism Show is a national event for autism dedicated to parents, carers and professionals.

Brain-in-Hand Ltd, which is located at Exeter University's Innovation Centre, has developed a personal technology system to assist people with Asperger’s Syndrome, high-functioning autism, acquired brain injury and a number of other conditions with their day-to-day living.

The system uses SmartPhones linked to a central server, enabling individuals to pre-plan responses to a variety of situations, to track responses made and to record anxiety levels - where necessary triggering an immediate response from a support team.

The company recently won the Innovation of the Year award at Exeter’s Business Awards, run by the Express and Echo newspaper.

Mr Stamp said: “Brain-In-Hand usesautism, acquired brain injury or a similar condition, it allows you to develop your own solutions to problems you may face in your day-to-day life. You can then use it, via your Smartphone, to help make decisions when those situations arise."
