Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Cadhay is opening its doors for an afternoon and evening of entertainment for all to enjoy.

The gardens of Cadhay, Ottery St. Mary, will be open from 2pm- 5pm on May 28. There will be delicious cream teas available for the public.

Cerebra Children’s Awards 2014

Cerebra is thrilled to announce the launch of their Children's Awards for 2014, celebrating some of the amazing achievements of children with neurological conditions.

Cerebra is a national charity supporting children and families who live with neurological conditions such as autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, among many others, as well as children who have an acquired brain injury. Fundraising team from Devon support Dementia Awareness Week

Six members of staff from Quay Court Care Centre, Devon, are undertaking an Air, Sea and Land challenge during Dementia Awareness Week in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Dementia Awareness week began on Sunday and continues until 24 May.

Katie Frost, Julie Edmonds, Natasha Hyne, Jes Hawkes, Georgina Rose Mercy, Sharon Frost, and Tim Colebrook are those taking part.

Exeter to Paris (and all that lies between... including Roscoff)

Two friends are taking on the challenge of cycling from Exeter to Paris (via Roscoff) to raise funds for local charity Hospiscare. Leif Tarry and Dave Clift will set off from the hospice in Dryden Road tomorrow (Friday 16 May) on the start their 525 mile challenge.

Dave and Leif have calculated that the challenge will take roughly a week to complete; this is if they stick to their 75 miles a day.

More than 350 women from Exeter, mid and east Devon enjoyed a walk along the seaside town of Exmouth Seafront on May 10 in support of Hospiscare, their local hospice charity.

The 12k walk started and finished at Exmouth rugby club with spectacular views along the seaside and through the nearby countryside to raise money for the charity.

Husband and wife duo Jilly (59) and Nigel (63) Rumble, from Hemyock set off on a 1,000 mile cycle for Fight for Sight today.

The pair, who retired three years ago, are cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End and are looking forward to completing the challenge.

Jilly, who worked at Fight for Sight, the main UK’s charity that’s dedicated to funding pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease, for eight years before retiring was keen to support the charity.

Scone to Mongolia Charity Challenge

Devon scones, Mongolia and a 14 year old Citroen Saxon are an unusual combination of items but they are the essential ingredients for two guys, Ben and Jon, as they embark on an epic journey on the 20 July to Mongolia and back (hopefully!) in order to raise money for Cool Earth and ShelterBox.

Really Big Quiz raises record amount

Exeter’s 11th annual Really Big Quiz broke its fundraising record once again, raising an impressive £6,200 for the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s charity, Ataxia UK – which funds research into a group of neurological disorders that affect balance, co-ordination and speech.

Organised by chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards, the quiz took place at the Corn Exchange in Exeter on Wednesday 7 May. The hall was packed with 70 teams representing local firms, all eager to win the title of Exeter’s brainiest business.
