Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare chief executive, has been awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by the University of Exeter.

She was presented with the award by university Chancellor, Baroness Floella Benjamin at the Winter 2015 graduation ceremony.

Exeter Axhayes Cats protection adoption centre are currently looking for a Volunteer to become their new Group Co-ordinator for our Friends of Exeter Axhayes Group.

Their Friends of Group are a great bunch of people who organise and run fund-raising events and raise vital funds for the Centre. An Exeter man is set to join a determined group of fund-raisers who are planning a midnight trek to the peak of Mount Snowdon to raise funds to help find a cure for dementia.

Stoke Canon resident Andrew Harris’ mum Jackie was diagnosed with vascular dementia three years ago and is cared for on a day to day basis by her 84 year-old husband Douglas.

Specsavers, located at 4, 247-249 High Street, is asking locals to search high and low for old pairs of specs as staff aim to collect a record number of glasses for the UK-based charity. Solicitor helps raise £4,620 for Wateraid

An intrepid Devon solicitor joined local businesses to raise money for WaterAid at Meldon reservoir recently. Donna Rowland of WBW Solicitors was one of a handful of volunteers who have raised £4,620 for the charity by walking the length of the reservoir, carrying 20kg of water.

The challenge reflected the daily burden faced by millions of women and girls all over the World who make similar trips every day, carrying water on their heads weighing up to 20kg. Leading UK law firm Ashfords LLP, has raised a life-changing sum of over £62,000 for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) as its Charity of the Year 2014.

Exeter family law specialist, The Family Law Company recently presented a cheque for £1500 to FORCE Cancer Charity.

The sum was raised through various events, including a popular skittles evening that pitted teams of accountants, barristers and solicitors against each other, with Old Mill Accountants edging ahead to win on the night.
